Being a grant recipient brought me to tears of joy when I received the announcement that I'd been chosen, as I was truly uncertain I'd have the finances to attend due to unforeseen expenses and circumstances. This grant enabled me to access what I consider to be the best nursing networking opportunity that I've ever heard of. I'm also so honored that I was selected by Sigma to present my doctoral work on an international level so early in my career. I've returned to the United States invigorated with a sense of unity and a renewed passion for globally-minded nursing. Without the generosity of the people who have supported this grant, it would have not been financially possible for me to make the journey to Singapore for this amazing in-person experience. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for your generous gift!

Attending the event was a transformative experience for me. I had the opportunity to engage with leaders in my field, like Dr. Jerry J. Nutor as well as Professor Deliwe Phetlhu whose keynote on innovative research methods inspired me to rethink my approach to data collection. I participated in several presentation sessions, including one on leadership in nursing, which equipped me with practical skills I immediately applied in my own projects. Networking was another highlight; I connected with peers from different countries, leading to potential collaborations that could enhance my research scope. Overall, the congress not only broadened my knowledge but also revitalized my passion for my work!

Receiving the Edith Anderson Leadership Education Grant was an incredible opportunity that allowed me to attend the International Nursing Research Congress in Singapore. Despite my poor English listening and speaking skills, I made a concerted effort to understand other participants’ research directions and methodologies. The opportunity to be sponsored to attend the conference in Singapore was immensely beneficial for both my academic and professional development. The interactions with other researchers and the insights gained from their presentations were incredibly valuable learning experiences. These exchanges and learnings not only broadened my knowledge but also inspired deeper thinking about my own research direction. Moreover, the event offered a supportive and dynamic environment, making the entire experience enjoyable and memorable. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, as it has helped me grow professionally and significantly improved my interpersonal and language skills.

I am very honoured to be among the recipients of the Edith Anderson Leadership Grant that enabled me to attend the Sigma International Research Congress. It was a great opportunity for me to network with other high calibre researchers and learn from the presentations about different areas of nursing. I admire the work that my fellow researchers have accomplished in their own research. I am now more inspired and empowered to do more research and collaborate with other researchers in other countries. I am truly grateful for this opportunity.

Triadic Data Analysis: Parental Interactions and Quality of Life of Children With Down Syndrome | Concurrent Session
I was honored to orally present my doctoral dissertation at my first International Nursing Research Congress. The presentations by the world-class nurses I met at the conference gave me new perspectives on nursing and motivated me to continue my research. Networking with them also allowed me to find colleagues related to my research topic, which opened my eyes to the potential for global advances in the interactions between fathers and mothers of children with chronic conditions. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a world-class conference and to present my work. The grant also provided financial support for me to attend the 35th International Congress of Nursing Research, as I was not yet established as a researcher, allowing me to focus on the conference. Thank you very much.

Effect of Online Interventions on Psychological Symptoms in Family Caregivers of Persons Living With Dementia | Concurrent Session
This grant provided me with an essential funding source that made this expensive international trip possible. As a post-doc, my program at the UAB School of Nursing has been very supportive of my research, and I am committed to conducting clinical nursing research. However, it is very expensive to travel internationally with my limited funding sources. I appreciate Foundation donors for providing additional help to ensure my presentation was seen by the audience and other researchers at the Sigma conference. I received great comments and feedback and made wonderful connections in my research. I sincerely appreciate this opportunity. Reflecting on my journey from my original country, China, to becoming a nurse and nurse scientist in the USA, I feel so fortunate to be immersed in the multicultural nursing profession. Attending International Research Congress has strengthened my faith in global nursing. It is so important to make connections and build bridges to improve patient care and nursing research.
