Sigma in the news

March message from CEO Luke Davis

Sigma members,

February was a pivotal month for Sigma—one filled with strategic conversations, meaningful connections, and a clear focus on our future.

On 11-12 February, I had the privilege of bringing the entire Sigma staff together in Indianapolis for Sigma IGNITE, our first-ever in-person staff retreat. Over the course of two days, we reflected on Sigma’s rich history, explored new ways to enhance our impact, and set our sights on the future. We reaffirmed our commitment to serving the global nursing community and strengthening the connections that unite us as #OneSigma.

At the heart of Sigma is an incredible team—dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes every day to support our members. They are the ones answering your questions, managing memberships, developing educational programs, organizing events, and ensuring that Sigma continues to thrive. At the close of IGNITE, we took a moment to capture this group in a team photo—a powerful reminder that our work is driven by people who care deeply about Sigma’s mission and the nurses we serve.

Just a week later, on 20-21 February, the Sigma International Board of Directors convened in Indianapolis for two days of governance and strategic planning. Together, we discussed the bold steps needed to advance Sigma’s mission and ensure that we continue to provide meaningful value to our members. The conversations were inspiring, the vision was ambitious, and the energy in the room was undeniable. We left these meetings motivated and ready to take action.

March brings an opportunity for me to meet many of you in person at the Creating Healthy Work Environments conference in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, from 28-30 March. (If you haven’t registered yet, there is still time!) I can’t wait to connect with you, share ideas, and be inspired by three days of powerful presentations. The excitement doesn’t stop there—I’m already looking ahead to Sigma’s 36th International Nursing Research Congress in Seattle this July and the 48th Biennial Convention in Indianapolis in November. I hope to see you at one (or all!) of these events, or at one of the many other nursing conferences I’ll be attending this year.

Together—as Sigma members, chapter leaders, staff, committee members, regional coordinators, and board members—we are stronger. And now more than ever, we are ready to cultivate a community of nurses who are #SigmaProud. United in our passion for serving nurses anywhere to advance healthcare everywhere, we are building an even stronger future for Sigma.

Along with the entire Sigma staff and Sigma International Board of Directors, I celebrate Sigma— for its rich history rooted in nursing excellence, it’s impact today on the global healthcare community, and the future we are building to empower and elevate nurses worldwide. Stay tuned … there is so much more to come!

Gratefully,
Luke
