INDIANAPOLIS—The newest nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) program from Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma) focuses on helping nurses transition from a registered nurse role to a nurse practitioner role.
Surviving Your First Years as an Advanced Practice Nurse addresses a nurse practitioner’s new roles and responsibilities, such as prescriptive authority and business management. The program also explains the steps and importance of taking the certification exam and becoming credentialed by state and federal governments. Included in the program are strategies for new employee onboarding as well as the benefits of mentor programs and fellowships as nurse practitioners transition into their new role. Learners will also discover additional resources for continuing education, networking, the importance of joining a professional organization, and work-life balance.
