Happy New Year, Sigma nurses!
The start of a new year always feels like an invitation—a chance to turn the page with fresh purpose and infinite possibilities.
In today’s complex and ever-changing world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure of our ability to make an impact. But let me remind you of something extraordinary: as a Sigma nurse, you are part of a global community of 30 million strong—a trusted and formidable force committed to advancing health and care. Together, we hold unparalleled power to shape the future.
From this perspective, the challenges and complexities we face become opportunities—opportunities to innovate, lead, and drive meaningful change. Guided by this belief, the Sigma International Board of Directors, our dedicated staff, and I are committed to seizing these opportunities and championing progress for the nursing profession. My New Year’s wish is that 2025 becomes a year of bold strides, collaboration, and impact for us all.
As we begin this journey, I want to emphasize that our success depends on you—Sigma’s members. Your leadership and engagement at the chapter, regional, and international levels are critical to our shared mission. That’s why I’m inviting you to step forward and contribute your unique talents to Sigma’s future.
Through January 31, Sigma’s Leadership Succession Committee is accepting nominations for international leadership positions for the 2025–2027 term. These include roles on the International Board of Directors, regional coordinators, and standing committees. If you’ve ever considered serving, now is the time to act.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to collaborate with the Sigma staff during our upcoming planning session and with the board at our February meeting. These moments will set the course for an exciting year filled with opportunities to support Sigma members, elevate the nursing profession, and make a lasting global impact.
Please stay tuned for updates as we build momentum toward Sigma’s 48th Biennial Convention this November. Better yet, consider nominating yourself or a colleague for a leadership role to help drive this progress firsthand.
With gratitude for all that you do and anticipation for the year ahead,
Luke
