A message from CEO Luke Davis

Sigma CEO Lucas M. Davis

Greetings Sigma members,

Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Luke Davis. I’m honored to be the new CEO of Sigma Nursing, a role I officially began on 19 August. Many of you may have seen the CEO announcement and my background details, but I’d like to share a bit more about myself.

I bring over 20 years of interdisciplinary and global experience, including leadership within another prestigious honor society. Throughout my career, I’ve developed a profound respect for the dedication, skill, and compassion that nurses and healthcare professionals demonstrate every day. Your work is essential, and I’m honored to lead an organization supporting this remarkable community.

During my first six weeks, I have learned about Sigma’s founders and the values they believed critical to nurses. I think those values of love, courage, and honor continue to resonate throughout nursing—and Sigma—today.

As we approach Founders Day on 5 October and begin Sigma’s 103rd year, I am excited to partner with you in the journey that lies ahead.

In my first six months as CEO, I am focused on understanding the complexities of this exceptional global organization. I am eager to work with our dedicated Sigma staff, chapter leaders, and all of you to support nurses and elevate the vital work you do.

In my first year, I will focus on three key areas:

  • Growing and engaging our membership
  • Enhancing our global partnerships
  • Strengthening our infrastructure

I recognize there is important work ahead, and I am committed to ensuring Sigma continues to be a vibrant, dynamic community and valuable resource for nurses at all stages of their careers. Together, I know we can achieve great milestones.

I look forward to meeting many of you in person soon. I will attend the virtual Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, 14 November 2024. I’ll also be at Creating Healthy Work Environments 2025 in Phoenix next March, the 36th International Nursing Research Congress in Seattle in July 2025, and the 48th Biennial Convention in Indianapolis in November 2025. I hope to see you at one of these events.

In the coming months, I’ll share more about our plans in the areas of membership, global partnerships, and infrastructure. For now, I extend my deepest gratitude for everything you do to support our organization and sustain Sigma’s mission.

With appreciation,

Luke
